According to Hindu mythology, King Daksha organized a grand yajna but deliberately chose not to invite Lord Shiva. Despite this, Goddess Sati attended the ceremony and was deeply hurt by the disrespect shown toward her husband. Unable to bear the insult, she sacrificed herself in the sacred fire.
When Lord Shiva learned of the tragedy, he was overcome with grief and anger. The story remains one of the most important episodes in Hindu mythology and continues to draw devotees to Kankhal throughout the year.
